Albatros Travel and Safaris (Pty), Limited, Registration Number: 1996/000235/07 is part of Albatros Travel A/S, a Danish travel company founded in 1986 by the biologist and writer Søren Rasmussen. Initially we only offered tours to Africa but over the years this has expanded to include worldwide destinations, with a particular emphasis on ecotourism in Greenland and Africa. We also offer cruises and arrange adventure marathon holidays in challenging environments, such as along the top of the Great Wall of China and on the Polar Ice Cap. Furthermore, we own a majority share in a cruise ship, the Clipper Adventurer, which has an ice strengthened hull and is capable of taking up to 122 passengers to the remote Arctic regions.
From our beginnings in a small Copenhagen office, we now have travel centers spanning the world. Aside from our head office in Copenhagen, Albatros has four offices across Europe, as well as in three African countries, Greenland and, China. Despite our expansion, we retain close links with our tour leaders, guides and partners, meaning we are still able to offer you the same high level of quality service.
At Albatros Travel Africa we have been bringing people to this amazing continent since 1986, and have grown from a small travel agency in Copenhagen to a much larger company with offices on four continents – but we still see Africa as the place that inspired us from the beginning – and we would love to share our awe of Africa with you.
We offer scheduled and tailor-made tours to countries in southern and eastern Africa. What this means is that you can either purchase one of our ready-made tour packages that commences on a given date or you can contact us with your travel ideas and let us do the rest. You might, for example, have a rough idea that you would like take your family to visit Cape Town and the Garden Route, go on a Safari in Namibia and finish off exploring Kruger in your own vehicle. Along the way you want to go whale watching and hot air ballooning, but you’re not sure where.
We will then use our travel expertise and extensive regional networks to put together a flexible itinerary for you, possibly making suggestions for other sights or features we think you might also enjoy. We’ve been doing this for 26 years and we love the creative challenge – so you can rest assured that we’ll do our best to make your travel dreams come true. You can change elements of it as you wish until you’re happy with the result.
