Entabeni Game Reserve is located in the Waterberg Biosphere. The biosphere was the first region in Limpopo, South Africa to be named as such by UNESCO. Located less than a three hour drive away from the sprawling metropolis of Johannesburg, Entabeni is a veritable Garden of Eden. Approximately 22,000 hectares in size the area is malaria-free despite the large volume of water in the area.

Five different ecosystems make up the reserve allowing a rich experience in terms of game and bird viewing and there are a large variety of species to be viewed which the knowledgeable and friendly game rangers will help to identify. There is also a possibility of viewing the Big 5 as all the species can be found in the park. 

Game drives with knowledgeable rangers in open 4x4s ensure easy viewing. There is also the option of a bushwalk for the truly adventurous. If you love horses you may take a short game ride or a longer safari seeing Africa from horseback as the first Europeans did. For the romantically-inclined or those with a head for heights, a balloon safari is also available.

The upper escarpment of the reserve is primarily dominated by grassland surrounded by picturesque crags, and taking a gentle drive between jagged cliffs to the warmer sandy wetlands of the lower escarpment offers a wonderful experience. The sandstone formations in the area retained sufficient water to make it a suitable environment for prehistoric man. This is evidenced by the rock paintings in the area which you can also visit.  

Accommodation varies from the five-star Entabeni Hanglip Mountain Lodge which is furnished in African Baroque style with each suite having a private sun deck, to the Entabeni Eagle’s Nest where the suites are housed on stilts and offer a birds-eye view and of course the Entabeni Wildside Safari Camp which is luxurious tent accommodation.
