Kruger: South Africa's Safari Showpiece
Nothing can prepare you for the the two million hectares that make up South Africa’s largest wilderness game reserve.
350km in length and about 54km wide - Kruger is big and long. Generally speaking, Kruger is divided into three regions: southern, central and northern. Together they cover an area the size of Wales. But it's not the size of Kruger that's impressive, it's the game that resides here and the facilities on offer for visitors. Some of the larger camps are like small towns and the extent of the terrain means that the park encompasses several different geological areas.
The park is designated as part of a UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve and it's not surprising that you can find over 500 species of bird here, as well as all of the Big Five game mammals and packs of the highly endangered Africa Wild Dog.
