Itinerary

Day 1 – Lake Nakuru National Park – Lake Nakuru Lodge
kenya-0141

Today on arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met by an Albatros Travel representative and driven to Lake Nakuru in the Great Rift Valley to start your safari.

The Lake Nakuru Lodge is only a two hour drive from Nairobi along a  scenic route which allows visitors to stop off and admire the beauty of the Great Rift Valley. The lodge itself provides comfortable accommodation in African-inspired rooms allowing guests to be gently immersed in Kenya and relax after their travels. You won't have to go far to see the game as many animals come and graze right outside the lodge - including a troupe of baboons.

After you have settled into your room and had lunch we will take you out on the first game drive. Lake Nakuru National Park is a sanctuary for the endangered rhino and leopards are often spotted here as well.

The flamingo covered lake makes a great spot to pause for some cocktails at sunset before returning to the lodge to freshen up before dinner.

Day 2 – Lake Nakuru National Park – Lake Nakuru Lodge
017-tanzania

This morning - early if you wish - is the ideal time to go on a game drive. The park is still cool at this time of day and this is also when animals are at their most active meaning the chances of spotting a leopard are much higher.

After the game drive we will return to the lodge for breakfast - or if you prefer we can ask the lodge to pack you a picnic breakfast and you'll spend the whole morning exploring the park. After all, there is plenty to see and the wildlife provides a spectacle that never stops moving!

After lunch it is recommended that you escape the heat of the day and enjoy the lodge’s swimming pool or have an afternoon siesta.  Later on, after you are refreshed, we'll go out on a second game drive. In the milder temperatures of the late afternoon and early evening you might be lucky enough to witness a lion hunt.

Day 3 – Masai Mara National Reserve – Mara Simba Lodge
tanzania-0016

This morning you'll enjoy breakfast at the lodge before we start out on the drive to the Kenya's most famed park - the Masai Mara.

The journey takes a few hours and we will arrive at the Mara Simba Lodge in time for a late lunch. The Mara Simba Lodge is perfectly situated overlooking a dramatic bend on the bank of the Talek, a tributary of the Mara River, and gently blends into the surrounding landscape. There are landscaped gardens populated with indigenous trees which attract a great variety of birds and butterflies - which make for excellent photographic subjects!

What's more, the lodge overlooks a watering hole, so you can sit on the verandah with a coffee and watch the animals as they come and go.

After eating lunch and settling into your room you'll have the option of your first game drive in this famous park.

Day 4 – Masai Mara National Reserve – Mara Simba Lodge
tanzania-0045

Today we recommend that we go on another early morning game drive. After you've had time for a cup of tea or coffee, naturally.

The plains come alive at this time in the morning. All the animals are out and about in the cool fresh air of a new African day. Hopefully we will see plenty of elephants, buffalos and lions this morning, as well as many other species of game and birds.

We will return to the lodge in time for lunch and an afternoon rest before either visiting a local Maasai village in the afternoon or heading out on another game drive. Alternatively you can always spend the afternoon at the lodge relaxing with a good book and some refreshing drinks.

Day 5 – Masai Mara National Reserve – Mara Simba Lodge
tanzania-0076

Today you'll have the opportunity to indulge in one of the Masai Mara’s most exclusive of activities - a balloon flight over the Mara plains.

The day starts early and sees you dropped off at the launch site where you will get into the basket and await take off. As you glide up over the treetops the sun will start to rise and you will experience one of the greatest sunrises of your life.

You'll spend the next hour or so spotting game below before landing beside an area where you will be served with a champagne bush breakfast.

Please note that the baloon trip is optional - see pricing information for details. If you do not wish to go on the balloon safari you can spend the day on further game drives or relaxing at the lodge.

Day 6 – Lake Naivasha – Chui Lodge
kbc_okt_07_301-lr-st-3

After the adventures of the Masai Mara this morning you will be transferred to Lake Naivasha. Naivasha is one of the Great Rift Valley lakes and many of Europe’s roses are in fact grown on the lake shores.

Chui Lodge is set within a private sanctuary to which guests have exclusive access. The game viewing is second-to-none and you are guaranteed (if you haven’t already) to see the last of the Big 5 - the leopard.

The lodge’s elegant African design is unique and never fails to capture guests' imagination. What's more, the lodge is noted for its engagement with wildlife conservation and the staff are very friendly. Food is top rate and Chui Lodge is famed for its lakeside sundowners and the incredible sunsets that accompany them!

Today after a leisurely breakfast overlooking the lake we recommend a boat ride out on the lake to see the incredible bird life that resides there.

The lodge can also arrange horse riding and nature walks around the lake, if you would prefer. As today is the last day of your safari relaxation is emphasised and there is no better place to achieve this than by the side of the pool with a good book in one hand and a chilled drink in the other!
