This morning you will be transferred to the Arusha airstrip for your flight to the Serengeti. Upon landing you will be met by your guide who will drive you to the camp in time for lunch. The comfortable camp is located in a remote part of the Serengeti and ideally placed for seeing wildlife.

In the afternoon you will go on your first guided bush walk, exploring the area surrounding the camp. It’s a thrilling experience and you will really start to get a feel for the kind of terrain you will be encountering over the next few days. You will return to the camp in time for sundowners and dinner and your first night under the stars in Tanzania.

Day 3 - Serengeti National Park

Today is the day your walking adventure begins and, after an early breakfast, we will set off on foot across the plains to explore this world-famous ecosystem and all it has to offer. The Serengeti is packed with game and birds and our guides will show us how to spot them. Animals are often frightened away by the sound of vehicle engines, so approaching them on foot is a far better way to do it!

Your guide will be extremely experienced with years of walking safaris behind him and will carry a high-caliber rifle which he has been trained to use (rarely, and then usually just for frightening off animals).

We will stop for a picnic lunch before walking back to camp and arriving in the mid afternoon – an ideal time to relax and stay out of the heat. In the late afternoon we will set off again on foot before pausing to enjoy a sundowner or two and then returning to camp for dinner.

Another exciting day of trekking in the Serengeti awaits today. As well as spotting a huge variety of birds you will get a chance to see many of the iconic game species for which this unique park is known.

Dusty and tired, but no doubt with a great sense of reward, you will return to the camp for a final evening of bush sundowners and a dinner around the campfire. Tomorrow you will be off to an entirely different area.

This morning will be your last chance to head out into the Serengeti on foot. After you have done so your guide will drive you across the plains to the Serengeti Sopa Lodge for lunch. After you have settled in to your new surroundings you might like to use the afternoon to go on a game drive, exploring a different part of the Serengeti and getting that little bit closer to the large predators safe  in the knowledge you are now in a safari vehicle!

You will return to the lodge in time for dinner.

After breakfast today we will drive to the Ngorongoro area. There will be plenty of opportunities to spot game on route and we will stop at Olduvai Gorge to explore the archaeological site made famous by Dr Mary Leakey. There will also be the opportunity to stop at a Masai village and learn about their way of life and traditions.

After this fascinating insight we will continue on to the beautiful Ngorongoro Highlands and the tranquil Plantation Lodge - which will be the next place you are staying at. Plantation Lodge rests on the soft, red-brown hills of the Ngorongoro region. The individually furnished rooms and suites blend harmoniously with the flowering garden and offer comfort and relaxation. Everywhere you look, you can see and even feel the personal atmosphere of this owner-run lodge with furnishings that were selected with great attention to detail.

You will arrive at the lodge in time for dinner.

Day 7 - Ngorongoro Conservation Area

To experience the crater without the crowds it is best to rise early for your half day game drive. Reaching the crater floor as the sun begins to rise, you will undoubtedly be amazed at this natural phenomenon before you.

The Ngorongoro Crater is home to about 25,000 animals and is one of the last places in Tanzania where the Big 5 can all be seen. A World Heritage Site, the conservation area is also an International Biosphere Reserve, where the animals and environment are protected but the Masai continue to practice their pastoral lifestyle.

We will enjoy a picnic on the edge of one of the crater’s lakes from where we will be able to watch elephants quench their thirst.

Later we will return to Plantation Lodge for dinner and to swap tales with other travellers on this the last night of your bush adventure.
