Itinerary

Day 1 - Nairobi to Lake Nakuru
flamingoes-standing-nakuru

On this Recommended Group Tour you will travel in tour vehicles with a small group of international visitors and stay together at the same lodges, although naturally with your own private accommodation. This is the ideal way to see the best that Kenya can offer in a cost effective manner. The tour leaves on set dates (see Dates and Prices tab).

Today we will pick you up from the airport or your hotel in Nairobi and drive you to the your lodge by the relaxing shores of Lake Nakuru - a journey of about two and a half hours.

As we leave the hustle and bustle of Nairobi behind us we will pass through Kenya's picturesque countryside, dotted with the semi-nomadic Maasai people and Africa's iconic wildlife.

Once we get to the park we will proceed to the Lake Nakuru Lodge just in time for the quintessential sundowner followed by a lovely bush dinner.

Lake Nakuru Lodge is a very popular location for bird watching in Kenya due to its proximity to the lake, and has great facilities, including a swimming pool. The lodge is involved in conservation of the local area and can arrange horse riding tours on request.

This morning you will enjoy a hearty breakfast as you watch the sun rise over the lake and listen to the sounds of the African bush coming alive. Afterwards, we will take you on a short game drive through the park, which is famous for its birdlife.

The lake itself is home to over a million flamingos, as well as over 400 other species of bird, including large flotillas of pelicans. After the game drive we will spend the afternoon heading south to Kenya's most famous game reserve, the Masai Mara.

For your two-night Masai Mara stay the perfectly-located Keekorok Lodge will be your home. This deluxe lodge was the first ever to be built in the Masai Mara and stands in the direct path of the spectacular annual Great Migration of wildebeests, zebras and other animals.

At the height of the Migration, Keekorok lodge is surrounded by a swarming mass of wild game, and you'll be able to go 'on safari' by merely observing from the lodge gardens.

Day 3 - Masai Mara

The wild animals awake early - and so will you today in order to experience one of the best times for game viewing. After a refreshing cup of coffee or tea, your driver guide will take you on a short game drive before the hot African sun rises and the wildlife retreats to the shade of the trees and bushes. Early morning risers you can expect to see animals such as elephants, zebras, wildebeests, leopards, and the occasional pride of lions seeking an early-morning meal.

The Masai Mara is also renowned for being one of the easiest places to see the Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo).

You will return to the lodge for lunch with time to relax before heading out on another game drive in the afternoon. Sundowners are not to be missed as the Masai Mara provides some one of the most exquisite sunsets in east Africa.
