Panoramic Kruger Safari

3 Days from ZAR 6 290  Open Currency Converter

Mpumalanga, which means "land of the rising sun" in the local language, has it all - from exhilarating wildlife, to secluded mountain retreats, ancient ruined cities, wild water sports, and some of South Africa’s most diverse and vibrant African cultures. Formally known as Eastern Transvaal, Mpumalanga lies in the east of South Africa. In the northeast, the land rises towards mountain peaks and then terminates in an immense escarpment.

In some places, this escarpment plunges hundreds of metres down to the low-lying area known as the Lowveld. This is also Big Game Country, the setting for dozens of sanctuaries teeming with wildlife and birds.

Day 1: Johannesburg - Big Five Safari in Kruger National Park
Cheetah twos

Morning departure from Johannesburg with your travel guide. Drive to the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ – the province of Mpumalanga. The journey takes you through incredible scenery – mountains, panoramic passes, valleys, rivers, waterfalls and forests characterize the magnificent landscape.

Upon arrival, you will embark on your first Big Five Safari in Kruger National Park. We have carefully selected our 4-star accommodation, right at the main entrance to the Kruger Park, the Protea Hotel Kruger Gate, where we will also have dinner.

Day 2: Kruger National Park
Elephant trunks

A full day safari into the Kruger National Park. We use open safari game drive vehicles and you are accompanied by a qualified and experienced FGASA and SATOUR registered guide. The park consists of nearly 2 million hectares of unrivalled diversity of life forms fused with historical and archaeological sites. The world-renowned park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld (low land), the park is a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques and policies.

Truly the flagship of the South African national parks, Kruger is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals. The safari starts early in the morning and your guide will cover as much area as possible. Stops will be included at the various lookout points within the park and you will be given the opportunity to explore man’s interaction with the Lowveld environment over many centuries – from rock art of the San to majestic archaeological sites like Masorini and Thulamela. A packed lunch will be enjoyed inside the park.

As night falls, start looking for game with spotlights under the African Stars. Later you return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Panorama Route - Johannesburg
Bourke's Pools 3

After breakfast we head for the so called ‘Panorama Route’. The Panorama Route is known for its cultural heritage and its dramatic landscapes. It leads through the rugged mountain range of the northern Drakensberg in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. Travel through "Gods playground" to God’s Window overlooking the green Lowveld.

Further north along the route, stop along many well-positioned vantage points from where one has a view of the 33 km long Blyde River Canyon gorge, which starts at "Bourke’s Luck Potholes" and ends at the "Three Rondavels". The Potholes are very impressive rock formations that were shaped millions of years ago by erosion. The bizarre swirl holes developed when the once rapid river carried masses of sand and debris. Time and weather permitting, you stop at various waterfalls along the way.

After this, you drive back to Johannesburg, where the tour ends on arrival at the O.R. Tambo International Airport or at your hotel.
