Nestled in a grove of enormous olive trees in Ol Chror Orouwa, Richards Camp offers understated luxury in a traditional safari atmosphere, with just six tents all with en suite bathrooms and fantastic views. The camp is a few kilometers from the Mara River, where hippos and crocodiles can be seen, and has almost guaranteed sightings of leopard very close to the camp. Recently guests were amazed to watch a cheetah and its sub adult cub try and kill an impala just yards from the camps mess area!

Itinerary

Day 1 - Nairobi - Masai Mara

On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met by an Albatros Travel representative and transferred to Wilson airport in time for your scheduled flight to the Masai Mara. On arrival in the Mara you will be met by a Richards Camp vehicle and transferred to Richards Camp with the opportunity to spot game along the way. Richards Camp has six spacious and beautifully designed and furnished tents all with en suite bathrooms. After lunch at the camp go out on your first game drive before returning for dinner at the camp.

Day 2 - Masai Mara

This morning you have the option of an early wake up call for an early game drive. The early mornings are the perfect time to spot game before the heat of the day sets in. Breakfast can be enjoyed either at the camp or the camp would be happy to pack you a picnic which you can enjoy in the bush. Later after lunch why not join one of the Richards Camp guides on a bush walk. You will learn all about the surrounding area and what plants are used in the local medicine as well as learning to read animal tracks. Later head out on an evening game drive. The camp can pack an assortment of drinks and you can stop by the river and watch the sun go down with a cold Gin and Tonic. Later return to the camp and enjoy dinner on the camp lawns with the sounds of the bush providing the perfect dinner music.

Day 3 - Masai Mara

Today the options are endless. You could spend the whole day out in the bush looking for game. The camp can provide delicious picnics breakfasts and lunches and you can return to the camp in the early evening and then perhaps treat yourselves to a bush dinner by the hippo pools? Alternatively you could spend the day on a cultural visit to the local Masai Manyatta, hearing all about the Masai’s fascinating way of life, before lunch at the camp and an afternoon game drive.

Day 4 - Masai Mara

Today you have the option of experiencing the ultimate adventure activity, a once in a life time experience. A hot air balloon safari. You will be given a wakeup call before dawn and have the pleasure of watching the sunrise over the plains from the air. The views are incredible, and spotting game is such an experience. Part of the safari is a champagne breakfast at a specially selected site. After breakfast you will be transferred back to camp in time to reflect on your magical morning before a delicious lunch. After lunch embark on your final afternoon game drive before returning to camp for dinner.

Day 5 - Masai Mara

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred back to the airstrip in time for your scheduled flight to Wilson Airport departing at 10h15 and arriving in Nairobi at 11h45. You will be met by an Albatros Travel representative and either taken to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in time to check in for your flight home or we can arrange accommodation in Nairobi for you.
