Itinerary

Day 1 Friday: Swakopmund to Sossusvlei

The driver / guide will collect you from your hotel in Swakopmund around 12pm (11am during wintertime). You will then travel through the Namib Desert via the Kuiseb Canyon and Solitaire. Be immersed in the true desert atmosphere en route as the desolate but beautiful Namib Desert comes into view. Arrival at your desert tented camp is in the afternoon, in time to relax and then take a sunset walk to enjoy the views over the distant Namib Naukluft Mountains.

Accommodation is in permanent tented rooms with en-suite facilities. Dinner is prepared by the guide and enjoyed under the desert skies

Day 2 Saturday: Sossusvlei

The day begins with an early morning departure from the lodge to reach the entrance at Sesriem by sunrise. The opportunity to climb some of the highest sand dunes in the world has finally arrived! You will journey along an ancient riverbed amidst towering dunes until the 2x4 car park, from where you will take the dune shuttle further into Sossusvlei. Arriving at the foot of the highest dunes, you have the opportunity to climb the dunes and admire the sight as the early morning light casts ever changing colours onto the sand.

After this wonderful morning's visit, the tour moves on to explore the rugged Sesriem Canyon, before returning to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon is free to relax at the lodge with a splash in the pool. Another starry night under the desert skies awaits you with a delicious dinner prepared by your guide.

Day 3 Sunday: Sossusvlei to Windhoek

After breakfast it's time to shake the sand out of your boots, hop on the bus and return to Windhoek. The return journey will go via Bullsport and Rehoboth, a town just south of Windhoek and home to Namibia’s Baster tribe. Arrival time at Windhoek is in the afternoon where you will be dropped at the establishment of your choice, with plenty of time in the afternoon to unpack, do a bit of shopping and get ready for your next trip.

Weather/Best time to travel: You can visit Namibia year round.  Partially covered by the Namib, Namibia's climate is generally very dry and pleasant. Namibia experiences summer rainfall (November to April). January and February are hot, when daytime temperatures in the interior of the country can exceed 40ºC , but nights are usually cooler. Winter nights can be cold, but days are generally warm and quite nice.

Remember to pack: A warm jacket for colder evenings and a high factor sun block, sun hat and sunglasses to protect against the African sun.
