Itinerary

Day 1 - Mount Kenya
mount-kenya-trekking-tours

On this tour you will be cutting down on costs by sharing the experience with a small group of other international travellers. The minimus group size is 2 and the maximum is 10. Tents are allocated per person/couple.

Your tour starts in Nairobi where we will meet you in the morning and drive you to the Mount Kenya area. The drive takes about 3 - 4 hours and passes through some of Kenya’s finest scenery and includes a stop at the old colonial town of Nanyuki.

We will arrive at the Bantu Campsite in the lush foothills of Mount Kenya in time for lunch. This will be followed by an afternoon walk to the Mau Mau caves located in the forests that cloak the base of Mount Kenya. It was here that Kenyan freedom fighters hid during the war for the country's independence and these forests are full of birds and wildlife, which your guides will help you to spot and identify.

Afterwards we will return for a delicious dinner and drinks by the campfire in time for our first night under canvas.

Day 2 - Samburu National Park

This morning after packing up camp and an early breakfast, we depart for Samburu National Park which is located in Kenya’s semi arid northern district. The area is home to the Samburu tribe who are pastoral relatives of the Masai. The landscape is rugged and very dramatic.

Samburu is a wildlife haven and all three types of big cat can be found here (lions, cheetahs and leopards). There are also around 350 species of bird here, making it an excellent place for birdwatching.

We arrive at the campsite in time for lunch. After lunch you can spend time relaxing at the camp which is located right near the Ewaso Nyiro River - home to crocodiles, hippos and small groups of elephants, which bathe in the muddy waters to escape the heat of the day. Later we will venture out on an evening game drive in search of lions, elephants and other plains game before returning to camp for the evening and enjoying another great dinner in great company under the stars.

After lunch, you'll be offered an optional visit to a nearby lodge for a shower and a swim. Otherwise you can just relax and take in the magnificent setting, or perhaps head off with a pair of binoculars. You are in the African bush after all!

You will then have the opportunity to take an afternoon game drive and sundown cocktails followed by dinner at the camp.

Lake Nakuru is an alkaline lake home to thousands of bright pink flamingos. The park is also home to lions, buffalos, zebras and hundreds of bird species, so there is no shortage of wildlife to spot.

Depending on availability you can choose either to camp at one of the park's campsites or stay in a guest house. An afternoon game drive is on offer, followed by another great dinner prepared by our camp cook.
