Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Livingstone
David Livingstone Safari Lodge 4

Arrive at Livingstone International Airport. Usually arrival is in the early afternoon. Immigration procedures: for those needing to purchase Zambian visa on the spot, it usually takes about half an hour to 45 minutes to get though immigration (but be patient, if the flight is full, it might take an hour – the airport is very small!). After immigration, there will be a meet and greet done by an Albatros representative. Transfer distance 7km / time 10 - 15 minutes, to David Livingstone Safari Lodge, to stay for the next 4 nights.

Day 2 - Tour of the falls
Arial of Vic Falls

In the morning after breakfast, we will take a guided tour of the Falls. This normally takes about two hours, taking you to the major view points. Afterwards you can choose to stay in the National Park and stroll around on your own, or go back to the hotel. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the Falls to the David Livingstone Safari Lodge.  In the afternoon you will have time at leisure to relax on your own or to take optional excursions.

We can also arrange for you to visit the falls from the Zimbabwean side (visa and park fee not included).

Optional Excursions: A great number of Optional Excursions are offered by Albatros Travel such as helicopter flips, elephant back safari, canoeing the Zambezi River or visiting the Victoria Falls Bridge – as well as bungee jumps and white river rafting for the more daring.

Day 3 – 4: At Leisure & Afternoon Boat cruise

For the next two days you will be at leisure or you have the opportunity to enjoy the optional excursions offered in this area. In the afternoon on Day 3 you will embark on a Sunset Cruise down the Zambezi River with drinks/sundowners; the trip usually takes around two hours and gives you the opportunity to soak up the beautiful scenery and African sunset.

Dinner for these evenings is at your own account offering you the opportunity to visit some of the many restaurants that this area has to offer.

Day 5 - Chobe National Park. Safari game drive
Victoria_Falls_Bridge

After breakfast, check-out to drive to the Botswana-border. We usually change to open safari vehicles for the last 10km after immigration to the Chobe Marina Lodge in Botswana. The border is easy. If we have all the necessary details (i.e. passport no, expiry, full name, nationality, DOB) we do a manifest and it will take about 15 minutes on the Zambia side. Botswana immigration can be a bit slower.

You will be taken on a land and river transfer into Botswana, to Chobe Marina Lodge, where you will stay for the next three nights.

Check-in at Chobe Marina Lodge will be around lunch time. You will enjoy welcome drinks and lunch, with time to relax before an afternoon game drive into Chobe National Park (including sundowner drinks). The safari game drives in the Chobe National Park offer excellent game viewing opportunities, actually some of the best in Africa! It is possible to see nearly all the major species: giraffe, elephant, zebra, impala, tsessebe, roan, sable, wildebeest, kudu, buffalo, waterbuck, warthog, eland and accompanying predators including lion, hyena, jackal, bat-eared fox - and possibly (rare though) even leopard, cheetah and wild dog.

In the evening everything starts moving; the predators wake up and get ready for the nights’ hunt, all Chobe’s buffalo and elephants move towards the river by the hundreds (or rather thousands) and when it’s getting really dark the ranger will turn on the search light to catch the shiny eyes in the bush and the wildlife moving around.

After the game drive you will return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 6 - Chobe National Park: Safari game drive and Chobe River Safari Cruise

We will drive out on a safari game drive in the early morning, taking into consideration where the game is to be found. The morning offers the best chance of seeing the wildlife feeding and drinking at the water holes and the river, and the scent and light of the dew-covered morning savannah are absolutely incredible!

In the afternoon you will enjoy another game activity, either a game drive or a river cruise.  On a river boat cruise you will have a very different game viewing experience, drifting down the Chobe River and admiring the animals on the banks and in the water.

Other optional activities include a leisurely sightseeing cruise to Sedudu Island, or for a more exhilarating experience you can try fishing for the famed tiger fish, considered by many to be the top freshwater game fish in the world. If you need some pampering there is the Cathari Health & Beauty Spa.

Day 7 - Chobe Marina Lodge: Morning and evening safari activities
Chobe cruise

Enjoy another full day spent searching for the game you may have missed on your previous safaris – on land or by boat. In the time between these excursions you could relax in the tranquil surrounds of the lodge or you may choose another optional excursion and/or enjoy a treatment at the Spa.

This evening you will have the opportunity to enjoy your final magnificent sunset over the Chobe River before you enjoy your final dinner here, accompanied by the sounds of the African bush.

Day 8 - Transfer to Livingstone for onward travel
