Itinerary

Day 1 – Nairobi – Diani beach
waterlovers_suite

Your beach break at the stylish WaterLovers resort starts at Nairobi’s domestic Wilson Airport, where you’ll check in for your early afternoon flight. Make sure to get a window seat as the hour and half long flight will afford amazing views of Tsavo West National Park, and if you are lucky, the snow capped peak of Kilimanjaro to your right. As you come in to land you will get a clear look at the crashing surf and white beaches of Kenya’s beautiful tropical coast. When the doors open and you step out into the humid heat and sea breeze your holiday truly starts. WaterLovers beach resort is a small luxury property that is Italian owned and hosted by the lovely Riccardo and Valentina. The ‘suites’ are all equipped with everything you will need for your stay and feature a wide veranda facing the sea, en suite bathrooms and air conditioning. As you might expect, the décor is a lovely fusion of Swahili and Mediterranean styles and the owners have included lots of little extras to make your stay as comfortable as possible, including such details as iPhone docking stations and WiFi.

WaterLovers really is a fantasic place to stay and we highly recommend it! And we're not alone - here's what others say about WaterLovers.

After you have put your bags down you will no doubt want to head out on the first of many swims in the Indian Ocean. Drying off in the sun you can consider what you might like to eat during your stay. WaterLovers serves up top cuisine which is mostly organic, rustic and Italian with a slight Swahili twist. The restaurant is called Tides, and it is set beside the pool overlooking the sea. If pumpkin ravioli, crab fagottini with avocado and lime sauce, followed by passion fruit mousse and white chocolate and washed down with a chilled bottle of white wine sounds good to you then you’ll love the food at WaterLovers.

Day 2 – Diani Beach

What better way to start the day than waking up to the sounds of the waves and the smell of freshly baked bread? After a lovely breakfast and a walk along the beach you could consider what you might like to do for the rest of the day. Many people choose to just relax by the pool or on the beach, but WaterLovers also offers several other activities. Kitesurfing, fishing and trips to the reef can all be arranged, however if watersports aren’t your thing then there is plenty to explore in Diani itself. The beach stretches for miles and there are plenty of great restaurants and friendly beach bars all the way along the waterfront.

A perfect evening drink can be had at the local favourite, the 40 Thieves Beach Bar. This place comes alive at the end of the day and all the local kite surfers use this stretch of beach to show off their moves as the sun goes down. Make sure you have a glass of chilled wine or a cold glass of tropical fruit juice to hand!

Peace and tranquility can be found today on the reef. WaterLovers can arrange for you to hire a boat and sail to the reef to do some snorkeling or scuba diving. The reef along the Kenyan coast is the perfect place to look for all kinds of marine life and there is a great diversity of life to marvel at.

Otherwise you can continue to chill out at the resort, relaxing by the pool and sampling delicious nibbles from the kithen.

As it’s your last evening on the coast, dinner on the beach is just the perfect way to end a great three days.
