BLUE TRAIN ITINERARY CHANGES 2019 PRETORIA – CAPE TOWN – PRETORIA ROUTE
Guests will now enjoy two night’s accommodation as opposed to one night on board. The train will depart during off-peak hours whereby limited delays will be experienced. Departure time: Pretoria, 08:30am Arrival time: Cape Town, 3pm.
UPGRADE TO CLOCK TOWER SWING AT V&A WATERFRONT
The Marine Swing Bridge linking the Alfred Basin and Victoria Basin is being upgraded, with construction set for completion on 30 April 2019. Operations will cease again from 29 March – 17 April 2019, when the new bridge is installed. During this period the bridge will be out of operation, a MyCiTi bus shuttle service will operate between the Bascule Bridge, close to the Cape Grace Hotel, and Silo Square. The service will run approximately every six minutes between 05:30am and 11:30pm.
LOWER ZAMBEZI CRUISE RE-INTRODUCED AT VICTORIA FALLS
Shearwater Adventures’ new subsidiary, Shearwater Jets, has re-launched its jet boat activity on the Zambezi River below the Victoria Falls. The new boat is an eight-meter aluminum jet boat. It will operate below the bridge (Victoria Falls Bridge) in the Batoka Gorge. It will run from the Boiling Pot, just below the Falls through rapids one, two, three up to rapid number four.
NEW TRAM LUNCH EXPERIENCE WITH POP-UP BAR IN VICTORIA FALLS
Pure Africa Destination Management has launched a new historic tram lunch experience with pop-up bar in Victoria Falls. Passengers can now enjoy the popular historic bridge and tram trip from 11:45am to 2pm every day. Guests are greeted on arrival at the historic Victoria Falls railway station with beverages and a selection of gourmet sandwiches and snacks before embarking on the tram ride. The tram will then take them to the middle of the bridge for a photo opportunity of the gorge separating Zambia and Zimbabwe.
VICTORIA FALLS BORDER CROSSING TO CLOSE FOR MARATHON
Travellers are advised that the border crossing between Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, and Livingstone, Zambia, will be closed from 10:00pm on 6 July to 9:00am on 7 July 2019 . This is due to the annual Econet Victoria Falls Marathon. The marathon route will be completely closed during this time, with no traffic – either vehicles or on foot – permitted to cross the border.
